Chao-Chou air quality monitoring station in Ping-Tung county was one of the ordinary air quality monitoring stations established by EPA, since it’s operation in 1994, the annual and daily 8th average concentration of PM10 had always been observed much higher than those of air quality standard (annual average oncentration is 65 μg/m3, daily average concentration is 125 μg/m3). Especially in 1999, the annual average concentration of PM10 (90.8 μg/m3) was 27% higher than that of in 1998 (71.5 μg/m3). In those four years, the number of days that daily average concentration of PM10 was higher than 150 μg/m3 (PSSI>100) has increasing year by year (36, 57, 72, and 16 days in 1998, 1999, 2000, and 2001, respectively). These data shows that the pollution situation of suspended particulate in Chao-Chou area is critical and worthy of the further research. |
