The main purpose of this thesis is to study on the Matsu temples of Tainan City in architecture by discussing the rise and fall during their life cycle. Especially on recent times, the building of Matsu temples is modernised under the great changes on economy, society and culture, therefore, our emphases are tracing the reason why they are modernised and then by what kinds of influences.
Mainly through the viewpoints of siting, space and form in architecture, we hope to clearify the historical fact between the tradition and the modernity of Tainan Matsu temples.
