The thesis is about Tung-shih. It’s in Taichung County. The main topic of this dissertation is to probe settlement and commercial streets development in Tung-shih during different historical periods. The research is made by collecting documents, analyzing statistics, and investigating fields. I aim at finding out the different characteristics existing in different periods in Tung-shih, and the critical factors behind the scenes resulting in the change. The research periods is from 18 century to now, which later I divide into three parts.
