Amentotaxus formosana Li (Amentotaxaceae) is one of the most important endemic species growing in the natural hardwood protection areas of Chingshuiying and Chachayalaishan, southern Taiwan. Between these two locations, the habitats are more similar as these two protection areas but hard to accessible, so the relative reports are still few. The aims of this study were to investigate the composition and distribution of the main plant communities in relation to environment variables, and to find new populations of A. formosana.
