The Chi-Chi earthquake occurred on September 21,1999 had induced soil liquefaction in the central Taiwan. Severe damages were induced by soil liquefaction in Yuan-Lin and vicinity areas. Several researches were conducted to study the liquefaction behavior in Yuan-Lin; Chien-Ming Chiu (2001) used the SHAKE to proceed the total stress analysis; Hsiao-Ching Huang (2002) used the FLAC with horizontal soil layers to proceed the effective stress analysis.
