The pH-stat method has been applied to measure the dissolution rate of limest one, which is the most commonly used reagent for wet flue gas desulfurization processes. The dissolution rates of limestones of six different mines in Taiwan,
Her-Pyng, Tay-Bair Mt., Chyh-Ke Mt., Dah-Gang Mt., Shin-Cherng Mt.,and Bann-Pyng Mt., were measured and compared under the same experimental conditions. Their dissolution rates were found to be mass-transfer controlled and independent of the variations in porosity, specific surface area, and compositions between particles of different sources.
