The subjects of this research are Atayal and Saisiyat aboriginals from Tai-an and Nan-chuang in Miao-li County and Wu-feng in Hsin-chu County. The target is to probe into the interrelationship between family and drinking behaviors, based on data collected through literature analysis, observation, in-depth interviews, and questionnaires. A family is a unit and three persons in each family were interviewed. Thirty families (89 persons in total) were interviewed and 269 families (807 persons in total) answered questionnaires.
