For releasing the pressure of the growth of population, reclamation on lands of mountainous slopes seems to be very necessary in Taiwan.This dissertation takes the southern part of Miao-li Hsien as an instance to show its perspective view on regional geography. The writer had his exploration of the region concerned in a detailed manner.In view of the physical environments of the region and the existing circumstances of small regional development, the subject-matter was divided into several subtitles for detailed discussion, and comparative study. Depending upon the special features, the writer suggested to separate the slope-lands of this mountainous country into three small geographical regions and to take division of labour on production by doing suitable plantation and proportionate cultivation on proper place.
