The purposes of the study were to investigate the effectiveness of classroom climate and emotional intelligence for the 5th grade students in elementary school. The quasi-experimental design of a 2*2 pretest-posttest, follow-up test with non-equivalent group was adopted in the study. The experimental samples come from 5th grade students at Happy Elementary School in Zhubei City. The study included experimental and controlled groups.70 students were the study subjects: 35 students in experimental group and 35 students in controlled group. The experimental group was consisted of 19 boys and 16 girls who received the Music Guidance Activity Program (MGAP); the controlled group was consisted of 18 boys and 17 girls who received no experimental treatments. Each week the experimental group would take two 40-minute sessions of MGAP and total was 21 sessions. The major instruments were Classroom Climate Scales and Self-Report Scales of Children’s Emotional Thinking. They were used to conduct pretest, posttest and follow-up measures. The data were analysis of covariance. In addition, the comments and feedback from the students also were evaluated through〝Music Activities Feedback Form, Music Experience Questionnaire and My Favorite Music Questionnaire〞. |
