This thesis is divided into eight chapters. Chapter 1 is the introduction , Chapter 2 the literature review. In Chapter 3, Si-Xien and Hai-Lu Hakka are introduced. In Chapters 4, 5,and 6, seventeen types of Si-Hai dialect in six cations-Pin-zhin, Iang-mei, Guan-xi, O-mei, To-fin and Nan-cuang are introduced. In chapter 7, the way of formation of Si-Hai dialect is proposed, and the special language phenomena of Si-Hai dialect described, the condition of language variation of Si-Hai dialect summarized by statistics is discussed.
